This is The Remix

NOTE::With this Saturday being my pilgramage to Mecca in name of the Britney Spears concert (in Newark, New Jersey, no less), I am going to try to include her in all of my posts this week. So lets have the countdown start at….FIVE DAYS!

DFA records (who not only once produced an amazing Britney demo that I’ll post in the coming days,  but are also home to LCD Soundsystem) did a very good, and somehow overlooked remix of one of Justin Timberlake’s best songs, “My Love,” and turned it into an electro funk masterpiece. Removing all of the swank Timberlake/Danja beats and T.I.’s rap, the mix goes on for 8 and a half minuites, but this is very much the defenitave version of this song, in fact, I can’t even remeber that last time I’ve elected to hear the original over this

Someone that I am sure I will be writing more about on this Blog is Ladyhawke, who I first mentioned last fall. I just got tickets for her show at Studio B later this month, and I am quite excitited. Its no susprise that she is great, considering she has the same team behind her as Kylie and Rachel Stevens. This remix is by Cut Copy, who I know people shit their pants about over here, but I never understood why, but this remix is good enough to make me reconsider.

Legendary house DJ Felix da Housecat remixed Britney’s biggest hit, “Toixic,” and only used the strongest bits of her vocals in it, which sounds better than me writing it, but its true. The track is steamy house electro house, and the first five seconds are so so so so insanely good. It’s def. for Felix fans moreso than Britney’s, but still a great take on a classic, and its very mid 2000s.
