So this one time…

…I saw Kylie in concert this summer in Madrid. It was very much worth the trip across the ocean (my seats weren’t amazing, so I dont have pics to share from that). But what I did love the most about KylieX2008 (which sounds so outdated now, doesn’t it?) was the amount of remixed work she performed. Notably was the one of “Can’t Get You Out of My Head” by Greg Kurstin, who produced (and butchered IMO) the entirety of Lily Allen’s “It’s Not Me, It’s You,” which came out last week. Being that the song is very old, Kurstin’s remix, which was released as a b-side to the “In My Arms” single, breathed new life in Cathy Dennis’ pop masterpiece. I am guessing that Kurstin did it as some sort of “test” before their recording sessions in 2007 in Ibzia with long time Kylie co-writer, Karen Poole. (The sessions also birthed “In My Arms,” “Carried Away,”“Wow,” “No More Rain” and the very amazing and unfortunate b-side “Do It Again.” Why this song, which has an intro of fucking wedding bells(!) wound up to never be the Top 10 UK hit that never was.
